May 9—ImageThe Toombs Co Bulldogs Baseball Team is moving on in the playoffs. The Bulldogs defeated Fitzgerald in Lyons on Wednesday in a best of three series winning both games 12-5 and 8-6.

“Early in the first game we came out and we were a little bit tight and made some boneheaded mistakes. We were up a couple of runs and the next thing you know we were down a few. We have been there before, but credit our kids they battled back and won the game.” Coach Brian Fitzgerald said.

“ Game two Beasley struggled the whole game, he pitched out of trouble in the second and third innings and I was about to put in another pitcher, but he stayed in and we got out of trouble. In the top half of the seventh we get on base and Logan Martin gets a base hit and gets us back up by three.” Fitzgerald said.

“ I am excited for our team they have worked really hard to get to this point and they are deserving of being a final eight baseball team. We are going to have a tough challenge with Westminster on the road. We are going prepare the best we can to go up there and we are aware that they have a baseball tradition, but I like our baseball team and we going up there and give them a go.” Fitzgerald stated.

The Bulldogs play Westminster next Tuesday and Wednesday (if necessary) in a best of three series. Game time TBA.
