Savannah Area Players Sign with Barons Soccer
Monday, 06 May 2013
MOUNT VERNON—BPC Men’s Soccer Coach Mike Dye is pleased to announce the addition of three more talented young men to the 2013 roster.

Corbin Howard (left) and Brandon Ford (right) sign with the Barons Soccer Team.Corbin Howard currently attends Calvary Day School and will graduate this May. Primarily a central defender, Corbin has been a two-year starter and captain for Calvary, while also playing club ball for Savannah Celtic Football Club. He has also been invited to the Savannah Area All-Star game for two years straight. Corbin is an active member at Immanuel Baptist Church, where he plays in both youth and adult praise band. He is also an active volunteer for basketball, music, and VBS camps at church.

“Corbin is an outstanding young man. He has a great foundation in which to use soccer as a ministerial tool these next four years. I am excited to watch him grow further into a spiritual leader as he pursues his major in education,” said Coach Dye.

Francisco Moyer (right) also signs with Barons Soccer. Seated with Moyer is BPC Head Men’s Soccer Coach Mike Dye.

Brandon Ford is a 2012 graduate of Calvary Day School in Savannah. He is a current and former teammate of Howard at Calvary and the Savannah Celtic Football Club. As a goalkeeper, Brandon was invited to the Savannah Area All-Star game where he was voted MVP during the event. During his senior year at Calvary, Brandon collected seven shutouts while only giving up 13 goals on the season. Brandon will attend BPC as an undecided major.

“Brandon has all of the tools necessary to become a great goalkeeper. Although he won’t be the tallest goalkeeper in our conference, what he lacks in size he makes up for in attitude and character. I know he has missed playing college ball this past year, and it will be exciting to see his enjoyment of the game propel his understanding of the fast-paced college game,” said Coach Dye.

Francisco Moyer is a 2012 graduate of Windsor Forest High School. A standout attacker for the Knights, Francisco scored 16 goals and dished out 18 assists while leading his team to a 12-3-2 record his senior year, tying for second in Region 3-AAAAA and a berth in the state playoffs. At the conclusion of his senior year, Francisco was named the All-Greater Savannah Area Boys Player of the Year.

“If I were to describe Francisco to anyone the first words I’d say would be he is a ‘hard-worker’,” said Coach Dye. “He is a crafty player who will work tirelessly to achieve his team's goals. Up top he will create havoc for any defense we play, and he will help improve our scoring ability next season.”
