April 22—The VHS Indians Baseball Team is 11-10 overall this season and 7-7 in the region. The Indians picked up a region win Saturday against Bacon Co 6-0.

“ We were fortunate to get the game in even though the field was wet. The coaches worked hard and got it ready. Drew Powers threw a two hitter, struck out seven and had a complete game, and won his third game of the year. He did a good job for us and that is what we needed. We played good defense and swung the bats when we needed.” Coach Greg James said.

The Indians have four important region games this week and are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive.

“Anytime you get down to the last week of the season you always want to have a shot and we have one at the number four spot or possibly number three depending on what happens this week. Everybody is playing three or four region games this week. We have four starting with Toombs Co at home Tuesday. We are going to take it game by game you are always concerned about pitching when you have four games like that, but we will go with Raekwon on Tuesday and play it by ear after that.” James said.
