April 16—The Toombs Co Bulldogs Baseball Team is 13-5 overall and 9-4 in the region. The Bulldogs have won five games in a row and are currently the #2 team in the region. Toombs Co heads down to Darien to play McIntosh Co Academy Tuesday.

“We had a nice ballgame against McIntosh earlier at home. We played good defense and had good pitching from a sophmore. We were able to put some runs on the board early in the game and let our team relax and settle into the game. At this point in the region everybody is kind of bunched up and I try to tell our kids you can’t take any team too lightly.” Coach Brian Fitzgerald said.

“Right now we are in second place, but only one game separates basically going from second place to out. We are going to try and take it one game at a time. We feel like we are getting a little bit healthier each week. We got Bailey Salter back on the mound. Bailey has picked up two region wins. We have three quality games this week with McIntosh, Long Co at home Friday, and Benedictine there on Saturday. We need to win at least two of these three games this week in order for us to sit down in this two spot maybe have an opportunity for a home playoff game.” Fitzgerald said.
