VHS Indian Invitational Golf Tournament
Thursday, 04 April 2013

April 4--The VHS Indian Invitational Golf Tournament will be played this Friday and Saturday at Hawks Point and Rocky Creek in Vidalia. This year along with the boys, the girls will take part in the tournament.

" We are real fortunate, we usually host our own tournament but this year Coach Watkins came to me and gave us the opportunity to join the boys tournament that he has built up within the state. We have about 30 boys teams and 11 girls teams coming in for the tournament. We are real excited because this is the only two day event for girls in the state, so it gives them a chance to play 36 holes and to see what it is like to prepare for college golf because that is how many holes they play in tournaments." Lady Indians Golf Coach Chad Barker said.

" Most of the 11 teams that are coming in are upper classifications, 4 to 6 A schools. They have a lot more players than we do but it gives us a chance to compete with the bigger schools and see what kind of scores that we can shoot and how we compare with the bigger schools." Barker said.

" The public needs to come out and watch some of the top young golfers in the state, boys and girls play. These kids work hard, some of these boys and girls will be playing college golf and you might even see them on tour one day." Barker stated.

The tournament starts Friday at 8:00am with shotgun starts at both courses.
