Toombs Co Special Olympics
Tuesday, 02 April 2013

April 2--The Toombs County Special Olympics will be held on April 12, 2013 at Buck Cravey Field in Vidalia.  Opening ceremonies will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the competition will begin at 10:00 a.m. We have volunteers from Vidalia City Schools, Toombs County Schools, and Robert Toombs Christian Academy to help us run the events. There are also many volunteers from the community who will be helping with Olympic Town, lunch, and more throughout the day. We have approximately 125 athletes competing in track and field events such as 50, 100 and 200 meter dashers, softball and tennis ball throw, standing and running long jump as well as young athletes competing in fun events. We invite the community to come out and support this event.

" We invite the community to come out and support this event. Anything that you would like to do just come out and support the kids, cheer them on through out the day. Everbody is a winner in special olympics, it doesn't matter whether you throw the ball 10 feet of 5 feet, you are a winner. Come out and give these kids a boost and we will all have a great day." Coach Elaine Allen local coordinator of the Toombs Co Special Olympics said.
