VHS Track Team
Thursday, 14 March 2013

March 14--The Vidalia High School Track Team competed in their first meet of the season in Appling Co this week. The girls team came in first place while the boys team finished in third place.

" We went down to Appling and came out on top. I was proud of the girls they ran very hard. We just need to improve on our times and get in better shape, but right now I like where we are at because of the meets coming up gets us prepared for the region championships coming up next month." Coach Dewey Helms said.

" The weather the way it has been, we haven't been able to practice alot so we are having to use these meets to get the people in the right places. Everything doesn't count until the region meets. It was a good competition in Appling Co they are a notch above anybody around in this area, they have a good boys team and have several boys that won state last year and they are back this year. I thought our kids did good considering the amount of practice time that we have had. You are going to get better as the season goes along." Coach Ladson Helms said.

The VHS Track team will compete Thursday at Tattnall Co.

The JR Trippe Chiefs Track Team hosted their second meet of the year at Vidalia High School Wednesday afternoon and came in second place to West Laurens.

" We had four teams compete this week just like last week, and we pulled out second place which I was pretty proud of our girls. We have only three meets to get ready for region where all the teams will be together. We need to keep working. I felt like our sprinters and distance girls did a great job, and as long as their times are getting better I am happy." Coach Anna Helms said.
