March 8-- Students from Southeastern Technical College won in three competitions at the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) Student Conference in Augusta. Representing Southeastern Tech were Christina Storkamp of Tarrytown, Lauren Thompson of Mt. Vernon, and LaDonna York of Reidsville. Storkamp finished in first place in Mock Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) Exam. Thompson, STC’s IAAP vice president, won first in Office 2010, first in Grammar Rules and Business Writing, and third in Mock CPS Exam. York, STC’s IAAP president, took second in Mock CPS Exam—claiming the top three spots for STC in that category—and third in Grammar Rules and Business Writing. “This is an annual conference we attend each year,” said Tina Jernigan, STC Business Administrative Technology (BAT) instructor and IAAP student advisor. “Our IAAP students have an opportunity to network and attend workshops with other IAAP student and professional members.” A number of seminars were available to attendees, addressing leadership, human resources, and strategic and organizational planning. Storkamp, Thompson, and York continued Southeastern Tech’s winning tradition at IAAP student conferences, becoming the third consecutive group to win or place at the conference competitions. “The students always represent STC well and I’m so proud of them,” said Jernigan.
