March 4th--VHS tennis teams traveled to Valdosta to participate in a tournament on 3/1 and 3/2

Both teams lost in the first round on Friday

Girls played Berrien Co and lost 0-5:

#1 singles Abigail Dixon  0-6, 1-6

#2 singles Brennan Merritt 6-7, 2-6

#3 singles Elizabeth Holman 2-6, 2-6

#1 doubles Breanna Spence and Kennedy Wright 3-6, 1-6

#2 doubles Tanisha Bowles and Destany Gilchriest 5-7, 3-6

Boys played Glynn Acadamy (who went on to win the tournament) and lost 0-5

#1 singles Julain McCaig 0-6, 0-6

#2 singles Travis McCaig 0-6, 2-6

#3 singles David Roberts 1-6, 0-6

#1 doubles William Collins and Austin Davis 0-6, 1-6

#2 doubles Carson Cato and Sterling James 0-6, 0-6

the second match was played on Saturday morning at 8:30

Both teams won in the second round

Girls played Thomas County Central and won 4-1 (#2 singles had to forfeit due to an injury):

#1 singles Abigail Dixon 6-2, 6-4

#2 singles Brennan Merritt 6-3, forfeit

#3 singles Elizabeth Holman 7-5, 6-2

#1 doubles Breanna Spence and Kennedy Wright 7-5, 6-3

#2 doubles Summer Adams and Destany Gilchriest 7-5, 7-5

Boys played Berrien County and won 5-0:

#1 singles Julian McCaig 7-5, 7-5

#2 singles Travis McCaig 6-2, 6-3

#3 singles Trace Calloway 6-4, 6-1

#1 doubles William Collins and Austin Davis  6-3, 6-2

#2 doubles David Roberts and Carson Cato 6-3, 5-7, 12-10 (tiebreak)

the third and final match was played on Saturday at 11:00

Boys lost 2-3 with wins coming at #1 and #2 singles (Julian and Travis McCaig played #1 and #2 singles, respectively)

Girls lost 1-4 with the only win coming at #1 singles (Elizabeth Holman played #1 singles in this round)
