February 27---In a called meeting Wednesday morning, the Toombs County Board of Education named Dublin assistant coach Steve Versprille as the new Head Football Coach at Toombs County High School. Versprille has spent the last 6 years in Dublin as the Assistant head coach coaching linebackers and becomes the 5th head coach in Toombs County history. He replaces Shane Williamson who left after five years to take the head coaching job at Forsyth Central. Versprille played football at the University of Alabama and says he's excited to be the new head coach at Toombs. He plans to be on the job in early April so he can conduct Spring football practice. Versprille says the next few weeks will be spent getting his staff together and meeting with players to let them know the direction he wants to take the program.
A native of Norfolk VA Versprille has been an assistant coach for 18 years and he and his wife Kristy have two children Baily and Bryant. |
