VHS Indians Baseball Start New Season
Tuesday, 19 February 2013
February 19--The Vidalia High School Indians Baseball Team opened the 2013 season at home Monday against the Swainsboro Tigers. The Tigers defeated the Indians 1-0.
" I was very pleased with our pitching, you hold Swainsboro to one run you have a chance of wiining, they are a very good offensive ballclub. I thought Drew gave us four innings like we needed, Paul came in and did a good job and Jordan finished strong and got out of a couple of jams. The bottom line is we need to start swinging the bats a little better and have a little bit better approach at the plate. It's early and that's going to come around, plus we are inexperienced right there." Coach Greg James said.
The Indians are back on the field at home Tuesday against the Treutlen Vikings at 5:45pm.
" Coach Korn at Treutlen does a great job up there, always a good program to play for a non-region game and we look for a good one tonight. We will start Tyler Mosley hope he can go three or four innings and then maybe go with our pen down the stretch and give some other kids a chance. We are trying to get in a lot before our region play starts on March 8th because that is when it really starts. We are going to keep working at it and find our right combination and see what happens. I really feel good about our club they are working hard it all starts with pitching and I have been real pleased with our pitching." Coach James said.
The Indians play again this Saturday at home in the C & L Diamond Day Tournament.
" It's always a big time early in the year to get in a couple of ballgames, we will play Metter at 12:30pm and then at 5:30pm against Wheeler Co. There will be four games in Vidalia starting at 10:00am.C & L is named after Carrie and Lynn Moore who helped get it started and kept it going and also Vidalia Orthopedics has really jumped in and done a great job as sponser and we really appreciate them doing that for us." James said
