Region 2AA Tournament Recap For Thursday

February 15--ImageIn the Region 2AA Basketball Tournament at Brewton-Parker College in Mt Vernon on Thursday the VHS Lady Indians defeated the Long Co Lady Blue Tide 50-41. The Lady Indians started out slow and were behind 10-9 at the end of the 1st period and 24-18 at the half. The Lady Indians shot only 22% in the first half. The Lady Indians fought back and trailed by only 1 at the end of the 3rd period 36-35. VHS played good defense in the 4th holding Long Co to just one field goal and pulled away with the win. Laura Vinson scored 18 points and made four 3-point baskets, and Chassidy Byrd had 13 points. The Lady Indians will play McIntosh Co Academy Friday at 5:30pm. on Your Favorite, 98Q.

The Toombs Co Lady Bulldogs won their game over St Vincents 60-51Image. The Lady Bulldogs trailed by 1 point at the end of the 1st period and came back in the 2nd period to lead at halftime 30-26. The 3rd period ended in a tie score 40-40. The Lady Bulldogs played with intensity in the 4th period and pulled away for the win. Devia Howard scored 21 points, Diamond Boyd had 14 points. The Toombs Co Lady Bulldogs will take on the #1 seed the Jeff Davis Lady Yellowjackets Friday at 4:00pm.

In the Region 3A Tournament at Jenkins Co High School in Millen the Montgomery Co Lady Eagles lost to Savannah Country Day 50-39 ending the season for the Lady Eagles.

In the GISA Region 2A Tournament at David Emanuel Academy in Stillmore the RTCA Lady Crusaders defeated the DEA Lady Eagles 51-43. Sydni Collins led the way with 21 points. The Lady Crusaders will now play Citizens Christian at 7:00pm Friday for the Region Championship.

The RTCA Boys won their game over Twiggs Academy 62-54. Rico Rogers led the Crusaders with 22 points, The Crusaders will also play for the Region Championship Friday against the home team the DEA Eagles at 8:30pm.
