Thursday, 14 February 2013

February 14--The VHS Indians Tennis Team is practicing and preparing for the season. Coach Terri Humphrey is expecting a good year from an experienced team with some returning players from last year's team.

" I am real excited, I have a record number of twelve girls that have come out this year, it is good to see the program growing. We made it to the first round of the state playoffs last year with both girls and boys. We have Kayla Merritt coming back as a senior, Abigail Dixon is a senior, I am excited to have both of them back for their leadership. We will have to play some new positions this year, Abigail lost her doubles partner last year to graduation,so we will see how the team works out." Humphrey said.

" The boys team I have ten guys that have come out with a lot of returners from last year. Julian McCaig will be the number one singles for us, senior Trace Calloway will be mixing it up with three singles and one doubles. I think we will have a good season, I have some good kids that play for me. We have been working hard and are ready to get going." Humphrey said.

The team will host Dublin in a non-region match on Tuesday, February 19th.
