February 13--Brewton Parker Baron Darrie Stephens has been selected as the Southern States Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.   Stephens had a stellar performance in last week’s conference games against Southern Polytechnic State University (2/4) and Truett McConnell College (2/9).  Against SPSU, Stephens collected 39 points and eight rebounds.  This set a new career high in points scored for Stephens.  In the matchup against TMC, Stephens led the team with 22 points and 12 rebounds.

This season has brought other career highs for Stephens as well.  In the game against Morris College, Stephens dominated the boards, pulling down 21 rebounds in the game.  He currently leads the team in points (16), rebounds (8), and blocks per game (1).

At the conference level, Stephens is ranked at the number one spot for Stellar Point Games.  He has five double/doubles this season, which ties him for sixth place in this category.  His performance this season has made him into one of the most dynamic players at the SSAC level.  He is currently ranked 8th in points per game, 5th in steals, 3rd in rebounds, and 6th in blocks.  At the NAIA level, Stephens is ranked 18th in total rebounds and 32nd in total scoring.

The Barons will return to action Thursday as they travel to the College of Coastal Georgia.  Tipoff is scheduled for 8pm.
