February 8--ImageIn area high school basketball action Friday night, the Vidalia Indians won both games on Senior Night against the Tombs County Bulldogs.

The Lady Indians won 61-53an d are the #2 seed in the region tournament next week. Chassidy Byrd scored 19 points, Kourtney Owens and China Hodge both had 12 points. The Lady Indians ended the regular season 15-10 and 5-3 in the sub-region.  Devia Howard led the Lady Bulldogs with 19 points.

The #2 ranked Vidalia Indians beat the Toombs Co Bulldogs 72-47. The Indians jumped out to a 16-0 lead, led 21-9 at the end of the 1st period, 38-25 at the half and 54-43 at the end of the 3rd period. The Indians outscored the Bulldogs 18-4 in the 4th period to seal the win. Raekwon Reed had 17 points, and Deshawn Holloway scored 16 points to lead the way.

The Indians are the #1 seed in the region tournament next week. The Indians ended up with a 24-1 record for the regular season and a perfect 8-0 in the sub-region. Tomond Hampton scored 16 points and Matt Hall had 13 points to lead the Bulldogs in the loss.

The region tournament will be played Monday and Tuesday at the Toombs Co Middle School gym, and Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Brewton-Parker College in Mt Vernon.

The Treutlen Vikings lost both games on Senior Night to Calvary Day. The Lady Vikings lost 66-47 to end their 13 game winning streak. Jasmine Brown had 20 points in the loss. The Treutlen Vikings lost 58-41. Drew Gillis had 14 points for the Vikings in the loss. Both teams will play in the region tournament next week at Jenkins County High Schoool in Millen.

In the GISA, it was Senior Night for the RTCA Crusaders who split their games with Citizens Christians Academy of Douglas. The Lady Crusaders lost 60-31 and are the #2 seed for the region tournament.

The RTCA boys beat CCA 75-59.  Josh Mimbs scored 23 points and had 21 rebounds to lead the way. The Crusaders are the number one seed in the region tournament coming up at David Emanuel Academy in Stillmore.
