January 28--  The Brewton-Parker College Men's Basketball team returned to action Saturday, Jan. 26 in Mount Vernon as they took on Southern Wesleyan University in a hard-fought SSAC match-up.

The Warriors came out fast and caught the Barons cold in the opening period of play, sending the Barons into the locker room down 31-48. Trailing by 17 points, the Barons showed a great amount of spirit and heart in the second period, and eventually regained the lead. However, the Warriors eventually regained the upper hand, and the Barons suffered a 75-86 defeat. The Barons were led in scoring by
Darrie Stephens (24 points) and Paul Hagler (19 points).

The Brewton-Parker women’s basketball team returned to home soil
Thursday, Jan. 24 to take on conference rival Emmanuel College. Coming off of a depleting road loss against Lee University, the Lady Barons bounced back in style recording a 60-49 win to reignite their chances of making the SSAC Tournament.

In a very hard-fought SSAC match-up, the Emmanuel Lions came out fierce and the Lady Barons trailed at half-time 22-27. The Lady Barons came out in the second-half fighting, and swiftly managed to get the upper hand on their opponents, overcoming the Lions 60-49. They were led by Brianna Webb, who exploded for 22 points and propelled the Lady Barons to a 16-point margin in the second half of the game. Improving to 3-8 in conference play, the Lady Barons now give themselves a fighting chance of making post-season play.
