January 28--The TCHS Sweet Onion Bulldog Wrestling Invitational Tournament was held this past Friday and Saturday at the Toombs Co Middle School gym, in Lyons. Around 20 teams competed at the tournament, the VHS Indians wrestling team had one winner in the 132 lb.weight class, Tyler Campbell. Tyler was unseeded and had to wrestle his way into the championship match.

"I just came out here and listened to coach Ferry, who kept telling me, pace, pace, pace. As long as I kept pace, and they would just start dying down, and it would come out that I had won. The kid from Commerce he had a hard fight with me, and it just turned out that he had nothing left in the tank at the end, and I had a little more, and just out did him." Campbell said.

"We had a good day, we filled 11 weight classes with 10 kids, we only has a couple of kids seeded. We won some matches and we got some wins, but the highlight of the day goes to Tyler Campbell who came in here unseeded and with a bunch of guys that were suppose to beat him, and Tyler just decided he wanted to win this thing. The finals came down to triple overtime, and he just fought through and won." Coach James Ferry said.

The Toombs Co Bulldogs Wrestling Team had 2 winners in two weight classes, Eric Hester in 285 lbs, and Erion Gaffney in 170 lbs.

The Bulldogs finished in 4th place, while the Indians came in 10th overall in the tournament.
