January 25--In area high school basketball action Friday night, the VHS Indians split a pair of games of crossover region games on the road with McIntosh Co Academy. The Lady Indians lost by 10 points, 60-50. Chassidy Byrd led the way with 15 points. The Lady Indians are now 12-9 for the season.

The 3rd ranked VHS Indians boys escaped with a 2 point victory, 41-39. The Indians struggled and fell behind early, and trailed 16-6 at the end of the 1st period. The Bucs of McIntosh Co Academy played tough defense, and the Indians were behind until 4:47 left in the 4th period. Deshawn Holloway hit a critical 3 point basket with :19 seconds left in the game, and Vidalia held on for the win. Holloway led the way in scoring with 11 points. The Indians are now 20-1 for the year.

The Montgomery Co Eagles won both games on the road with Johnson Co. The Lady Eagles winning, 72-62. Precious Sneed scored 34 points to lead in scoring. Ebony Garnes added 17 points.

In the boys game, the Eagles winning in a blowout, 65-32. Jared Quarterman scored 18 points and Kendall Shinhoster had 14 points.

The Toombs Co Bulldogs split their two games at Long Co. The Lady Bulldogs winning big, 47-25. Shaila Bacon had 15 points, and Diamond Boyd and Jamila Hopkins both had 10 points.

The Toombs Co Bulldogs losing in a close game, 44-40. Tomond Hampton scored 13 points, and had 8 rebounds. Chris Mobley scored 10 points for the Bulldogs in the loss.
