Tuesday Night High School Basketball Recap

January 22--Image In area high school basketball action Tuesday night, the VHS Indians swept both of their games at home with the Metter Tigers. The Lady Indians won 66-32. Chassidy Byrd and Kourtney Owens scored 13 points each, and Trinnity Hamm added 12 points to lead the way in scoring. The Lady Indians are now 12-8 for the year.

The 3rd ranked VHS Indians started out with an early lead and had no problem with the Tigers. The Indians led 30-9 at the end of the 1st period, and cruising to a 75-39 victory. Cole Johnson scored 16 points to lead the way, with Raekwon Reed with 14, and Deshawn Holloway with 12 points. The Indians are 19-1 for the season.

The Mongomery Co Eagles swept the ECI Bulldogs at home, the Lady Eagles winning 61-49. Sharanda Johnson scored 14 points, Precious Sneed and Ebony Garnes both had 11 points.

The Montgomery Co Eagles boys winning 50-44 over the Bulldogs. Jared Quarterman led the way in scoring with 17 points.

The Treutlen Vikings also won of pair of games against the Johnson Co Trojans, in Soperton. The Treutlen Lady Vikings continued their winning streak to 9 games by defeating Johnson Co at home, 60-37. Four players were in double figures, India Pierce scored 13 points, Nesha Blair with 12 points, Tasya Burns with 11 points, and Jasmine Brown had 10 points. The Lady Vikings are now 14-2 for the year.

The Treutlen Vikings boys had no trouble with Johnson Co winning big, 61-20. Drew Gillis was the leading scorer for the Vikings, who are now 10-4 for the year.

The Toombs Co Bulldogs won a pair of games with Bacon Co, the girls winning 45-32. Deavia Howard scored 12 points on her birthday, and Shaila Bacon added 11 points.

In the boys game, The Bulldogs won by ten points, 67-57. Tomond Hampton had 23 points and 10 rebounds, Matt Hall scoring 16 points and 9 rebounds.

In the GISA,the RTCA Crusaders split a pair of games with the CCA Patriots in Douglas. The Lady Crusaders losing their first region game of the year, 50-33. The game was for first place in the region.

In the boys game, the Crusaders winning 79-60. Rico Rogers led the scoring with 25 points, Josh Mimbs had a good night also, with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
