January 15--The Vidalia Heritage Academy Wrestling Team competed this past weekend at the Tomahawk Classic, at Irwin Co High School. The team did very well at the tournament, despite this being the first year of wrestling at the school.

" We are excited about how things are going, even though we only had one medalist of our six that competed in the morning session, CJ Palmer who placed second. We went out in our first four matches and won all four. The record kind of dwindled from there as the competition got tougher in the later rounds, but to go out and do that was very good. We ended up medaling six wrestlers during the day, and we ended up fifth place out of fifteen schools, so it wasn't that bad of a showing, especially since the program is new."  Coach Chester Proctor said.

" We are working really hard, and we have really amped up practice the last couple of weeks, and the kids have really responded. Their bodies and conditioning have responded well, and they are able to wrestle longer and that's important. Wrestling is something you cannot get tired two minutes into the match, when you have one of two minutes left in the match." Proctor said

" We will take this Saturday off, and then next Saturday we will head up to the West Laurens Raider Invitational, West Laurens is a dynamite program, I think those kids are born wrestlers, it will be a very tough competition, but that is what we are ready for, we are only going to get better if we wrestle the tougher guys. Our kids are excited, and they are ready for it, and we are looking for a good showing." Proctor stated
