2014-11-28 Lyons Basketball Registration
November 28--  Kids ages seven to 12 are invited to sign-up for basketball with the Lyons Recreation Department starting Monday, November 17th through Friday, November 28th.  Sign-up at the Lyons Recreation Department from nine till five each day or register on-line at www.lyonsrec.com .  Cost is $30.
 
2014-11-29 "Finding Favour" Concert
November 29--  Come enjoy a free concert by the Contemporary Christian group "Finding Favour" Saturday, November 29th at seven p.m. at the downtown Vidalia Amphitheater.  The concert is hosted by the Cornerstone Children's Center.  Bring chairs and blankets for seating and enjoy food from vendors.  For info, email concert_team@vidaliafumc.org .
 
2014-11-30 Altamaha EMC Scholarship
November 30-- Altamaha members can win a $1,000 scholarship to attend college or tech school in Georgia courtesy of the Altamaha EMC in Lyons.  Get you application from Tammye Vaugh, 526-2120.  Deadline for submissions is January 30th.
 
2014-12-01 Blood Drive in Lyons
December 1--  The holidays are a rough time on the blood supply, but you can help.  The Lyons Merchants Association is sponsoring a Red Cross Blood Drive Monday, December 1st from one till seven p.m. at the Toombs Agri-Center behind Toombs County High School.
 
2014-12-02 Boy Scout Christmas Trees
December 2--  Boy Scout Troop 933 is selling Frasier Fir Christmas Trees and Wreaths.  The deadline to order is Tuesday, December 2nd with pick-up Friday, December 5th at the Boy Scout Hut at the Ed Smith Recreation Complex in Vidalia.  Place your order by calling Ashlee Malone, 293-8474.
 
2014-12-02 BPC Blood Drive
December 2--  You're invited to give blood when the Red Cross Bloodmobile visits Brewton-Parker College Tuesday, December 2nd.  Hours are one till six p.m. at the Briscoe Center.  For info, call 583-3208.

December 2--  City Hall in Lyons will be closed Tuesday, December 2nd because computers will be out of service.
 
2014-12-04 BPC Concert
December 4--  Come enjoy Brewton-Parker's "End of Semester" Concert Thursday, December 4th at seven p.m. at the Gilder Recital Hall.  Music by the Community Wind Ensemble, the Concert Choir and the "Voices of Truth."
 
2014-12-04 BPC Pastors' Summit
December 4--  Area pastors are invited to Brewton-Parker College for a "Pastors' Summit" Thursday, December 4th including morning chapel, lunch and afternoon summit meeting in the Saliba Chapel with BPC President Dr. Ergun Caner.  For details, call Jennifer Blaylock, 583-3202.
 
2014-12-05 Holiday Play
December 5--  Get your tickets now for the Paul Anderson Youth Home Christmas Dinner-Theater production of "Return to Bethlehem Manor."  Shows are Thursday, December 4th and Friday, December 5th at the Vidalia First Baptist Church.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m.  For tickets, call 537-7237 or online at www.payh.org/christmas.com .
 
2014-12-05 Santa Claus & PAWS
December 5--  Get your pet's picture with Santa Claus.  The Vidalia Police Department and Sweet Onion Animal Protection Society are hosting "Claus and Paws" pictures Friday, December 5th from five till seven p.m. in the mall of the Vidlaia Police Department.  Prices range from $10 to $20 depending on size. 
 
2014-12-06 Christmas Parades
December 6--  Come enjoy the Christmas parades in Vidalia and Lyons.  Both parades are Saturday, December 6th with the Vidalia parade stepping off at 11 a.m. and the Lyons Lighted Christmas parade starting at six p.m.
 
2014-12-13 Mount Vernon Christmas Parade
December 13--  The 13th annual Mount Vernon Christmas Parade and Celebration is Saturday, December 13th with the parade at 4:30 p.m. and food, drinks and entertainment at the courthouse after the parade.  To enter the parade or have a booth, call City Hall in Mount Vernon, 583-2323, by Thursday, December 11th.  
 
2014-12-18 Budget Hearing
December 18--  You're invited to a public hearing on the Vidalia city budget for 2015 Thursday, December 18th at 11 a.m. at City Hall.  The city council will meet at noon to adopt the budget.  A copy of the budget is available for review at city hall.
 
2014-12-18 Free Concert at Tabernacle
December 18--  A free Christmas concert by Contemporary Christian groups "MikesChair", "City Harbor", and "OBB" is Thursday, December 18th at seven p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Vidalia.  Seating is limited, so come early.
 
2014-12-19 Christmas Cheer
December 19--  The staff at Pineland Toombs Adult Daycare is accepting donations to help its clients receive a Christmas gift.  Donations may be sent to the Toombs Adult Day Program, 901 West North Street, Vidalia, GA 30374.  Donations are needed by December 19th to allow time for shopping.  For info, call 538-0209.
 
2014-12-20 Salvation Army Bell Ringers
November 25--  The Salvation Army in Vidalia is looking for folks who can spare a couple of hours during the holidays to ring the bell and fill the Red Kettles with cash for Christmas.  If you can help, call 538-8203.
 
2014-12-28 Adams Family Christmas Lights
December 28--  The annual Adams Family Christmas Lights displays starts Saturday, November 29th and continues through Sunday, December 28th.  The display is between Glenwood and Alamo, one-half mile off Highway 280 on the Stuckey Church Road across from the Stuckey Baptist Church.   Hours are six till 10:30 p.m. nightly.  For info, call 523-5468.
