2014-09-16 Toombs Commission Meeting
September 5--  The September meeting of the Toombs County Commission will be held at the Normantown Fire Department instead of the county courthouse.  The meeting is Tuesday, September 16th at 5:30 p.m.
2014-09-16 United Way Kickoff
September 16--  The 2014 Kickoff Luncheon for the United Way of Toombs, Montgomery and Wheeler Counties is Tuesday, September 16th at 11:45 a.m. at the Vidalia First Baptist Church.
2014-09-17 FCA Kickoff
September 17--  The Fellowship of Christian Athletes invites you to its new school year kickoff Wednesday, September 17th at six p.m. at the downtown Vidalia Amphitheater.  Enjoy free food, music with the FUEL Band and a chance to win prizes.  For info, call Mary Moon, 537-4002.
2014-09-18 Project Hope Banquet
September 18--  You're invited to Community Project Hope's annual banquet Thursday, September 18th at six p.m. in the Dixon Building at the Ed Smith Recreational Complex on Stockyard Road in Vidalia.  Project Hope works with young men to help them become productive citizens.
2014-09-20 Ohoopee Reunion
September 20--  If you ever lived in Ohoopee, you're invited to the Community Reunion Saturday, September 20th from ten a.m. till nine p.m. at "The Depot" in Lyons.  Bring a covered dish and enjoy a day of fellowship.  For info, call Angie Braddock, 326-0085.

2014-09-25 Veterans Meeting
September 25--  Veterans and their families are invited to a Town Hall Meeting at the VA Medical Center auditorium in Dublin Thursday, September 25th at ten a.m.  Hospital officials will be there to get feedback on how they can improve service.  For info, call 478-274-5440.

2014-09-27 Men's Fellowship Meeting
September 27--  The Sweet Onion Chapter of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship has a breakfast meeting Saturday, September 27th at 8:30 a.m. at Chatter's in Lyons.  Seventeen-year-old Joshua Blaine of the Victory World Outreach Ministeries in Vidalia is the guest speaker.  For info, call 293-3316.

September 28--  You're invited to the Fall meeting of the Treutlen Historical Society Sunday, September 28th at 2:30 p.m. in the social hall of the First United Methodist Church in Soperton.  Deacon Billy Norris will discuss the history of the Bethsaida Baptist Church and its cemetery.

2014-10-17 Big Buck Contest
October 17--  Deer Hunters are invited to take part in the Quint Shrine Club's "Big Buck Contest" Saturday, October 18th.  Cash prizes totalling $1,200 and a deer rifle will be awarded.  Tickets are $30 and must be purchased by Friday, October 17.  For info, call Robbie Akins, 585-1979.  Proceeds will help the Quint Shrine Club provide free medical care to children.
2014-10-18 Toombs Central Reunion
October 10--  Alumni of Toombs Central School from 1940 through 1969 are invited to a school reunion Saturday, October 18th from ten a.m. till two p.m. at the Santa Claus Community Center.  A seafood buffet will be served for $20 per person.  Reservations are required by October 10th.  Call Toby Burke O'Neal, 583-2777.
2014-10-25 Street Dance for a Cause
October 25--  The Second Annual "Street Dance for a Cause" with the Swingin' Medallions is  being held in downtown Vidalia Saturday, October 25th starting at three p.m.  Sponsored by Community Hospice and the Downtown Vidalia Association, the event will raise money to help fight cancer.  Admission is five dollars for kids ten and under and ten dollars for everybody else.
