October 27--  The Sweet Onion Readers Book Club invites you to discuss the complete works of Edgar Allen Poe Monday, October 27th at seven p.m. at the Vidalia library.  Refreshments will be served.  For info, call 537-9283.
 
2014-10-27 Lyons Council Meeting
October 27--  A workshop meeting of the Lyons City Council previously scheduled for Tuesday, October 28th has been moved up a day to Monday, October 27th at six p.m. at Lyons City Hall.
 
2014-10-28 BPC Hosts Illusionist
October 28--  Master Illusionist "Harris III" performs Tuesday, October 28th at 6:30 p.m. in the Saliba Chapel at Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon.  The show is free.  For info, call 583-3211.
 
2014-10-28 Soperton Blood Drive
October 28--  Treutlen citizens are asked to support the Red Cross Blood Drive Tuesday, October 28th from two till seven p.m. in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.  The drive is sponsored by Treutlen Retired Educators and Deborah Ferrare of the Soperton Subway.
 
2014-10-30 Halloween Pumpkin Contest
October 30--  Win a $50 Gift Card if you win the Halloween Pumpkin Decorating Contest sponsored by the Meadows Sleep Center and Alliance Home Medical.  Pumpkins must be turned in no later than October 30th at the Meadows Sleep Center at 505 Maple Drive in Vidalia.  For info, call 538-5591.
 
2014-10-30 Lyons Pumpkin Contest
October 30--  Lyons Main Street invites you to take part in a pumpkin decorating or carving contest.  There are five age group categories from infant to 18 and older.  Register at RWP Studios, 121 Northeast Broad Street in Lyons.  Pumpkins must be turned in no later than four p.m. Thursday, October 30th.  For info, call 526-5128.
 
2014-10-30 Trunk or Treat
October 30--  The Downtown Vidalia Association is hosting Trunk or Treat night on Thursday, October 30th from 5 til 7 PM at the downtown Amphitheatre.  You are invited to give out candy in your custom decorated trunk.  To reserve a space or for more info, call the DVA “Main Street” office at 537-8033.

2014-10-31 BOE Called Meeting
October 31--  The Vidalia School Board has a called meeting Friday, October 31st at 12 p.m. to discuss plans for the renovation of Vidalia High School.  The meeting is at the board office on Adams Street.
 
2014-10-31 Early Voting
October 13--  You can vote early in Georgia's November 4th General Election through Friday, October 31st.  Vote in person at your county voting registrar's office including Saturday voting on October 25th.
 
2014-11-03 Bed Sheet Sale
November 3--  The Vidalia Wrestling team is having its annual bed sheet sale with sheets of all colors and sizes on sale for $40 per set.  Deadline to order is November 3rd and your order will be back before Christmas break.  For info, call Coach James Ferry at Vidalia High School.
 
2014-11-06 MCES Fall Festival
November 6--  Bring your kids and come enjoy the Fall Festival at Montgomery County Elementary School Thursday, November 6th from six till eight p.m. with lots of food, games, a hayride, prizes and much more.
 
2014-11-07 Basketball Registration
November 7--  Kids ages five to 12 are invited to register for Rec League Basketball now through Friday, November 7th from three till seven p.m. at the Toombs County Recreation Office across from Toombs Central Elementary School.  The cost is $30.  For info, call Larry Moore, 912-403-9367.
 
2014-11-11 Veterans Day Luncheon
November 11--  Former U.S. Navy SEAL Lee Burton is the guest speaker for this year's Veterans Day Luncheon Tuesday, November 11th at 11 a.m. at the Vidalia Communithy Center on Airport Road.  Due to limited seating, veterans are asked to bring only one guest to this free luncheon sponsored by the Downtown Vidalia Association, the City of Vidalia and the Vidalia Masonic Lodge.  For info, call 537-8033.
 
2014-11-21 Lyons Lighted Christmas Parade
November 21--  The Lyons Lighted Christmas Parade this year is Saturday night, December 6th at six p.m. in downtown Lyons.  Get an application to enter the parade from Charles James at 526-6166.  Deadline to enter is November 21st.

November 21--Per the Merchants Association of Lyons the Lyons Lighted Christmas Parade is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 6th, at 6:00PM. Deadline for the submission of entry forms is November 21st. For more information call Charles James at 526-6166. 

 
2014-11-21 Vidalia Christmas Parade
November 21--  Entries in this year's Vidalia Christmas Parade need to be in by Friday, November 21st.  Contact Paul Toole at the Downtown Vidalia Association, 537-8033, for info.  The parade is Saturday, December 6th at eleven a.m. and the theme is "The True Joy of Christmas."
 
2014-11-30 Altamaha EMC Scholarship
November 30-- Altamaha members can win a $1,000 scholarship to attend college or tech school in Georgia courtesy of the Altamaha EMC in Lyons.  Get you application from Tammye Vaugh, 526-2120.  Deadline for submissions is January 30th.
 
2014-11-8 Moose Lodge Sampler Supper
November 8--  You're invited to sample the dishes of local restaurants and cooks at the Second Annual Sampler Supper Saturday, November 8th at seven p.m. at the Vidalia-Lyons Moose Lodge on Highway 280 East in Vidalia.  Admission is ten dollars and you may win a door prize.  For info, call 537-9181.
