March 16-- Mr. Robert Lewis Lawler, age 75, of Vidalia, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness. He was born in the Bear Creek Community in Montgomery County, and lived most of his life in Vidalia. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Power Plant after sixteen years as a security guard. After retiring, he worked with Pineland Paper Company, JoBell Coffee, and most recently at Big Al’s in Higgston. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, and rode with the Faith Riders of Tabernacle. He was a member of Vidalia Masonic Lodge #330 and served as Chaplain. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and growing his many varieties of fruit trees. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Grace Ward Lawler; two brothers, Gerald Lawler and Bobby G. Lawler, Sr.; and a sister, Carol Lawler Bridges.
Mr. Lawler is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Diane Lawler of Vidalia; four children, Bob Lawler of Vidalia, Chris and Denise Lawler of Alston, Cindy Lawler Lyles and husband David of Vidalia, and Wade Lawler of Port Wentworth; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a great-grandson to be born in May, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 18th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Ronnie McKenzie and Reverend Gordon Tippins officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
