fax to 912-537-4477.  There is no charge for this service.

July 29-- You can help improve the area blood supply with a donation to the American

Red Cross Blood Drive in Montgomery County.  The Bloodmobile will be at the Briscoe

Center across Highway 280 from the Brewton-Parker campus Tuesday, July 29th from

1:30 till 6:30 p.m.  Free hot dogs and refreshments will be given to donors.

July 29--  Brewton-Parker College has declared July 29, 2014 as Stand with Brewton-Parker

College Day. The community is invited to join in a rally that day at 6:30 PM at the Gates

Building parking lot to support the school as it fights to keep its accreditation. The evening

will include music, local personalities, and a special presentation.   For more information,

July 30--  Students entering the seventh grade this year and all new students to Georgia in

the 8th through 12th grades are required to have vaccinations before they can attend school.

For info on the shots, contact your county health department.

August 2--  The first-ever "Sweet Onion Color for a Cure 5K" is Saturday, August 2nd under the 

pines on Airport Road across from the Vidalia Community Center.  Registration starts at seven a.m.

with the run at nine a.m. followed by a local talent concert at 12 noon.  Runners get a T-Shirt, sunglasses

Proceeds go to the Iris Wilcox Cancer Center and to cancer research.

August 2--  The Youth Department at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Vidalia invites you

to a night of fun, games, music, food and prizes at the amphitheater in downtown Vidalia

Wednesday, August 6th from six till 8:30 p.m.  For info, call Tony Mitchell, 585-4445.

August 15--  A benefit for the Altamaha Heritage Center in Lyons is Friday, August 16th at

6:30 p.m. at the Watermelon Creek Vineyard near Glennville.  Local authors will lead discussions

on the Altamaha River's history and music will be by the River Rat Review.   Tickets are ten

dollars in advance.  For info, call Fred Brogdon at 326-1941.

August 15--  Citizens ages 60 and over who qualify can have a meal delivered to their

homes by Concerted Services in Toombs County.  For information, call 537-0453.

August 15-  Registration is now open for eligible three and four year olds in

the Toombs County Head Start Program.  For information, call 526-9229 or visit

the Head Start Center at 178 Williams Avenue in Lyons.

August 15--  The Class of 1984 at Montgomery County High School is planning

it's Thirty Year Class Anniversary for August 30th.  Class members are asked to

send contact info to ydboyer@hotmail.com or logon the "MCHS Class of 84" 

Facebook page.

August 15--  Disabled or elderly folks in the area who need a wheelchair ramp

can get help by calling "Open Doors to the Handicapped."   If you live in Toombs,

Montgomery or Wheeler Counties, call Bob at 538-9499 for assistance.
